Welcome!

I am Melissa Kurt, a children’s book author, lifelong educator, and proud mom of three amazing boys.

For the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching elementary school just outside Toronto, Ontario, where I’ve worked with incredible children. These experiences have not only shaped my approach to teaching, but have also deeply influenced my writing, grounding it in empathy, imagination, and a genuine understanding of the emotional lives of children.

My writing journey began with our dog named Yeti—Yeti is a sweet and anxious goldendoodle, who quickly became a classroom favourite, as I shared all of Yeti's adventures. 

It was through story telling that I was inspired to share my stories, finding joy, comfort, and connection. 

When I’m not writing or teaching, I’m at home with my loving husband, Ian, and our three amazing sons, Landen, Gavin, and Mason—along with Yeti, and Lucy our lovable goldendoodles. 

I am very grateful to begin a new chapter in my life as a writer, and I cannot wait to share more stories, more laughter, and more lessons with all of you in the pages ahead.
